Gsis Headqurters
Manila, Philippines

1,350,000 s.f. headquarters with banking hall, retail shops, auditorium, gymnasium and parking for 700 cars. This building houses 4,000 workers and 3,000 visitors daily. It is designed to maximize natural light and breeze penetration, while minimizing heat gain on the building’s perimeter. The stepped form is reminiscent of the Philippine rice terraces. This was a development for the GSIS undertaken by the Principals of Architecture International when they were Principals of The Architects Collaborative. The project was the recipient of three international passive solar energy awards.
