Architecture International Wins Four Design Awards

June 2013 – The prestigious Gold Nugget Awards, which represents excellence and innovation in addressing complex design and build issues in the architecture industry, has awarded two Gold Nugget Awards and two Merit Awards to Architecture International (AI) in their 2013 competition.

AI received the Gold Nugget Awards for a San Francisco High-Rise Residence for Interior Renovations and the Xiang Shui Wan Resort, Hainan Island, China for International Site Plan.

The San Francisco High-Rise Residence takes advantage of fabulous Bay Bridge views and reflects the owners’ preferences for flowing curved forms. AI partnered with Studio Becker on this project. The Xiang Shui Wan Resort is a beach-front tropical resort that includes more than 100 luxury vacation villas and a 300+ key, 7-star bio-climatic beach hotel/condo resort.  The project was done in collaboration with Anthony Shen (ATS).

The two Merit Awards were given to AI for the Desa ParkCity Town Center, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for International On The Boards and 900 Folsom/260 Fifth Street, San Francisco for On the Board Multi-Family Community.

Currently under construction, the 900 Folsom Street and 260 Fifth Street buildings are made up of townhouses, lobby and retail areas on the first floor, one level of below-grade parking, a podium level with amenities on the second floor and 7 floors of flats above.  These two nine-story buildings were developed with extensive community involvement with groups such as the Housing Action Coalition and the South of Market Redevelopment Area Committee. Both projects are designed to achieve LEED Gold Certification.

The Desa ParkCity Town Center project is a 473-acre self-contained township.  AI was responsible for the design of the high and medium-rise residential component of 800 units.  This was master planned in collaboration with JRDV Architects.
